We had a wonderful first day on Friday. We enjoyed meeting some new faces and seeing some old friends. As a class we came up with some important things that we should and should not do. We the wrote a Class Contract with five rules that we all promised to follow for this school year. Our rules are as follows -
1. Follow all directions.
2. Keep our hands and feet to ourselves.
3. Use an appropriate voice.
4. Treat others with respect.
5. Walk quietly in the hall.
After coming up with our class rules, we had an introduction to our three workshops. The workshop model is very important in our classroom and we want to make sure that understand how each one operates.
During reader's workshop we had the opportunity to look through some of the books in our classroom library. We will begin using our library in a few weeks to pick books on our independent reading level.
During math workshop we explored some of our math manipulatives that we will be using this year to help us learn our math concepts.
During writer's workshop we each wrote a story to kick off our year. We ended our day with an assembly in the gym during Specials. Mr. Hayes and Mr. Harris met with us to talk about this year. We are looking forward to a great time.
