We kicked off our week of Math Workshop by studying equal division of sets. We are laying the foundations for both multiplication and division. Today we practiced by taking a set and dividing it into five equal groups.
We will continue with functional writing during Writer's Workshop. Today our mini-lesson was about setting a purpose for our Writing. We will also discuss sequencing, labeling, and appropriate titles.
During Readr's Workshop we will begin our non-fiction unit this week. We will be focusing on text structure that is found within a non-fiction book. We will also spend time looking at the table of contents and glossary.
After our mini-lesson today, students traded in 5 of their fiction books for non-fiction books. They also spent time reading and recording on a sticky note the difference between a fiction and non-fiction book.
